Glenabbey is part of the UK wide Welcome Churches network, whose vision is for every refugee to be welcomed by their local church.
As a Welcome Plus church we have a team of trained volunteers who extend a warm welcome to local refugees or people seeking asylum, whatever their accommodation. Our volunteers provide practical help as these new arrivals navigate our local area.
We have an English Conversation Café at 3pm on Wednesday afternoons with free tea, coffee and treats. Our volunteers help refugees and their families practice their English and provide activities and help with homework for children.
Twice per month, on Mondays from 10am-1pm, a group of volunteers take men from a local refugee hotel for an excursion and walk in the countryside.
If you would be interested in finding out more about volunteering, please click the button below and someone will get in contact with you. We’d love to chat to you about how you could be involved.’
